My strengths are in these areas of editing:
Substantive or Structural Editing
I’ll take what you’ve written and help you say what you mean and mean what you say. I work with you as a team.
Stylistic Editing
Who is your audience? What is their reading level? What message are you trying to convey? I’ll eliminate jargon, correct the reading level (either up or down, depending on the audience), smooth things out and hone your message.
Rewriting
You’ve got a great idea, but don’t want to do the writing? Or have you got several wastebaskets full of drafts but nothing is working so far? Give me the basics and I’ll write for you. This can be a team effort or I can write your manuscript for you based on the idea and basic notes you have given me.
Copy Editing
You’ve written a strong piece and just need a professional to go through it and check it for grammar, spelling, punctuation and style. I’ll do the boring work of making sure all the formatting is in order. If you need permission for using someone’s material, I can get these for you, too. I can also make sure a Canadian manuscript is in Canadian English; an American manuscript is in American English.
Fact Checking / Reference Checking
You’ve written a great story or non-fiction article. Now you just need to make sure you’ve got all the facts right. I love doing this.
Contact me for a quote on any of the above services. Let me help you save time and money.
